CAN/DGSI:104 is Canada's national baseline cybersecurity standard for small and medium organizations, yet most material about it is written for security professionals. This site translates the standard into plain language: what it covers, who it's for, how certification works, and how to actually implement the controls without an enterprise security team.
It's an independent educational resource. It isn't affiliated with the Digital Governance Standards Institute, the Standards Council of Canada, or the Government of Canada, and nothing here replaces the standard itself.
candgsi104.ca is published and maintained by MTech Cyber, an IT and cybersecurity services provider working with Canadian small and medium businesses since 1995. Implementing the controls described on this site is a large part of MTech Cyber's day-to-day work, which is where the practical examples and implementation timelines come from.
Content is written from the standard itself (CAN/DGSI 104, published by the Digital Governance Standards Institute), Standards Council of Canada program documentation, and Canadian Centre for Cyber Security guidance. The Resources page links to every official source.
The full site is reviewed quarterly by Randal Wark, Managing Partner, MTech Cyber, and updated between reviews when something significant changes: a revision of the standard, a change to the certification program, or new legislation affecting Canadian businesses. Every page shows its last review date in the footer.
